Business Interruption Coverage

April 2020

With businesses currently closed by government order, questions are arising about business interruption coverage in insurance policies.  In order to evaluate a policy for business interruption coverage, an attorney must first review the actual language of the insurance policy.  Wisconsin laws are unique to other states when it comes to interpreting insurance policy language.  Secondly, Wisconsin has specific rules that apply to different lines of insurance that are sold.  These specific insurance rules can complicate coverage analysis.

In any event, you should have an attorney on your side analyze your insurance policy to determine the potential coverage you may have.  You should not rely on the insurance company to interpret their own policy fairly or correctly.

At Herrick & Hart, we have experience reviewing insurance policies for coverage.  If you would like to set up a consultation, please take time to contact us.
