The Danger of a Quick Settlement

November 2019

After an injury, the person who is hurt is in a vulnerable situation.  They do not know how soon they will heal or if they will ever heal up.  They do not know when they may return to work or how they will take care of their loved ones during the recovery period.  The insurance companies fully understand the predicament the injured person is in and try to take advantage of the situation.

Soon after an injury, the injured person may be approached to take a quick settlement.  The quick settlement is seldom in the insured's best interest.  The insurance company will offer a small amount of cash in exchange for a full release of all your legal claims.  The insurance company offers these quick settlements to protect their own insured, resolve the claim, undervalue the full extent of the injuries and prevent the injured person  from talking to a lawyer.  Once the injured person has signed a release they cannot reopen the claim and pursue more damages in the future.

At Herrick & Hart, we have been fighting the tactics of insurance companies since 1951.  We offer a free consultation on personal injury cases.  If you have been injured, do not hesitate of contact us.
