Residual Funds Received by WISTAF

Herrick & Hart received acknowledgment from WISTAF that over $7,000 was received as a result of residual funds from class action settlements in which the firm was involved. This funding is also known as cy pres funding. These funds are monies that are not distributed to members of a class action for a variety of reasons. The monies are then sent to a worthy cause by order of the court.
WISTAF provides funding to the state's most vulnerable populations to access the representation of attorneys. They are a leading state-based funder of legal aid in Wisconsin. WISTAF was created in 1986 by the Wisconsin Supreme Court to aid the courts and improve the administration of justice by administering funding for legal services to persons of limited means in non-criminal matters.
