Real Estate Appraiser Statute of Limitations

May 2022

In the recent legislative session, the Wisconsin Legislature created a statute of limitations for real estate appraisers.  Actions against real estate appraisers should be commenced within 5 years or be barred.  This limitation applies to actions against real estate appraisers to recover damages based on tort, contract or other legal theories.  The new limitation is codified under Wis. Stat. 893.895.

If you have a claim following a sale or purchase of real estate, take the time to contact an attorney.  A call to an attorney will assist you in learning your rights and what action needs to be taken to exercise them.
