Seat Belt Use 2017 - Statistics

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently reported statistics for seat belt use in 2017. Overall seat belt use nationwide in 2017 was 89%, which showed little difference from the prior year.  However, seat belt use has shown a steady trend of increaseduse since 2000.  People in the Midwest region, in which Wisconsin is included, showed an increase in seat belt use to 88.6%.  This was a significant increase over the prior year.  People in the West region showed the highest percent of seat belt use nationwide.  The data for the survey was gathered by observing selected roadway sites.
