Millennials and Distracted Driving

March 2023

Distracted driving is a serious problem for drivers of all ages, but is particularily prevelant among millenials.  Millennials are considered to be the generation born between 1982 and 2004.  This generation grew up with technology and is comfortable with its use in all venues.  The generation has no idea of a world without technology.  A recent study was undertaken to get a better grasp of the millennial generation and distracted driving.  The study reported that the number one cause of death among millennials was car crashes.  In order to increase distracted driving awareness among millennials, the study listed as possible solutions clarifying the definition of distracted driving and greater enforcement of distracted driving laws.  It is important that millenials be educated on the dangers of distracted driving and practice safe driving habits like keeping their phone out of reach while driving and pulling over if they need to use their phone.

At Herrick & Hart, we see the harm caused by distracted drivers.  Youthful drivers have always been on the road.  Their lack of experience behind the well can make them unaware just how quickly things can change when a person is driving.  This lack of experience coupled with the modern technology is a dangerous combination.

If you have been injured by a distracted driver, consider contacting Herrick & Hart.  We offer a free consultation on personal injury cases.
