Data on Cell Phone Usage of Drivers

October 2023

The Journal of Modern Transportation posted a article with respect to cell phone usage and the driver's perception of risk.  The article analyzed data from a study of 500 drivers in Texas who had a cell phone.  Among the findings was that there was no specific belief that the use of a cell phone during driving can impair a person's ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.  Secondly, most driver's have not come to the conclusion that the use of a cell phone impairs their reaction time while driving.  Another finding of interest was that current driver's education classes did little to change the perception of a driver to the danger of using their cell phone while driving.
