The Ripple Effect of a Personal Injury

November 2026

When personal injuries are discussed, the focus is primarily on the person who was injured.  But anyone who has been injured, knows the the impact of the personal injury touches more than them.  An injury touches everyone close to person and greatly impacts family members.

Think of a stone dropped in the water.  The ripple effect of the stone is at the center but the ripples expand in a circle outward.  A personal injury works in the same way.  The ripples from the injury work outward.  The family members are the closest to the impact of the stone.  However, in the next circle are friends, relatives and co-workers.

In many cases, a close family member takes on a second job.  The healthy family member has to manage medications,  schedule appointments and take on additional chores around the house.   In addition, the injured family member may be out of work which puts strain on the family finances.   Also, with any serious injury comes the uncertainty of how the recovery will proceed and if the injured family member will ever be able to resume their former role.

At Herrick & Hart, we deal with the consequences that personal injuries have imposed on families on a daily basis.  We have been working for the injured and their families since 1951.  We offer a free consultation on personal injury cases.
